The 937 Gallery in the Cultural District will open a unique exhibition featuring Pittsburgh artist Nathan Doverspike on May 18th. Nathan Doverspike will feature nearly every drawing he has ever made, including his highly regarded "Pittsburgh Island" which is a dreamlike landscape of Pittsburgh consisting of the buildings, pop culture, and history of the city. In addition to his professional work, the exhibit will also showcase sketches and characters that the artist created throughout his childhood. The exhibit is an extensive look into the artist's process, showing the artists progression throughout his life. Each character, landscape, and band poster in the exhibit is hand drawn with ink and colored digitally. Nathan Doverspike graduated from The Art Institute of Pittsburgh in 2014 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Graphic Design. He is an award-winning artist that has been recognized by Communication Arts Magazine, 3X3 Magazine, the New York Society of Illustrators, singer Phillip Phillips, DATA Pittsburgh Technology Summit and the Pittsburgh Society of Illustrators. Along with the 937 gallery exhibit, Nathan will also be displaying his work at the Dollar Bank Three Rivers Arts Festival from June 2nd-6th for the second year in a row as an Emerging Artist Scholarship recipient.
